FALL COLORS
Fall in Colorado has been beautiful. The photo above is our backyard at the end of October. September and October were warm and so pretty with the leaves changing colors. At the end of October we were able to go to Vail, CO for a few days and even spent a day in Aspen. In all the years we’ve lived in Colorado, we had never been to Aspen. And boy am I glad we did! Autumn in the mountains is spectacular.
Of course I had fun wandering around Vail Village and fell in love with the decor in one of the beautiful shops. Gorsuch has lots of European ski clothes but also some traditional European home goods.
How gorgeous is this tartan dresser! The shoes are cute too.
And this one with some cool blankets.
And this was the decor outside the shop. Of course I was drooling over the blankets here too.
Vail was beautiful and our timing was perfect. The colors were glorious and the day we left snow was coming.
FALL FOOD
We had a fun Halloween with our kids and grandkids and then, boom! November hit with cold weather. While we haven’t really had much snow, the temps have been much cooler, like, as in the high this week will be 40-45 degrees.
Brrr… So naturally I have been thinking about some soup recipes. And I’m all about easy, so the following recipe is yummy, quick, and only has five ingredients. And, you can keep the ingredients on hand frozen or in the pantry.
5 Ingredient Tortellini Soup
This recipe is yummy, quick, and only has five ingredients. And, you can keep the ingredients on hand frozen or in the pantry. The perfect soup for cooler weather!
Ingredients
- 1 box or 4 cups of chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 cans (15oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 block (8oz) cream cheese
- 1 small bag of fresh or frozen chopped spinach
- 16 oz. Frozen tortellini
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
Put the first three ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer, stirring occasionally until cream cheese is blended in. Add spinach and simmer 5 minutes. Just before serving add frozen tortellini and simmer for approximately 3-4 minutes.

How easy is that!?
And since we’re talking about food… this past week we hosted a gathering for 20 people in our home. Kelly inspired me with her recent Monday Must Haves post that featured charcuterie boards. So I gathered meats, cheeses, crackers, nuts, and a few other items and slapped it all on a few different boards and trays. The tray below has been a great one for large dinners or parties.
I went with my daughter, Lindsey, to a local woodworking shop that Kelly featured last week, Maker’s Bench. We had so much fun learning to make butcher block cutting boards, and mine is in the photos below.
Kelly and I both have the little square appetizer plates from Crate and Barrel so we often share them if we’re having a crowd. The girls and I share a lot of things when we’re entertaining a crowd, it sure comes in handy!
FLEA MARKET FUN
Of course I recently had to pop into one of my favorite local flea market/antique shops, A & J Antiques. Below are some fun items I saw and something in one of the photos came home with me. Can you guess what it was?
The stack of red books now live on my living room mantle. One of these days I will show you my awkwardly long mantle.
FACE CARE
Ok, so I’ve talked about fall colors, food, and flea markets. Why not finish with another thing that starts with “f”, face care? (I really didn’t sit around thinking about using four words that start with the letter f !).
So I went to have a facial with Kelly’s great esthetician, Peggy at Bask Salon in Fort Collins. When I was there she said, “So you’re using a serum?” To which I honestly said yes. But that got me to thinking, what’s a good facial serum to use? For years I have used Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum. It is reasonably priced and has served me well.
But I found this one and really like it too. It’s Lilyana Naturals Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid.
You guys there are about forty bazillion different face serums and creams to use! So help me out, tell me what you use in the comments section below.
Tuesdays With Tracy November
I’m looking forward to hearing from you and, God willing and the creek don’t rise, I’ll join you again in December!
The trip to Vail and Aspen looked unbelievable fun. I’m fairly new to Kelly’s blog and love it, it’s great to get 2 for 1. Hope everyone has a healthy thanksgiving and the best Christmas ever.
Hi Gail. I’m so glad you are enjoying the blog and I loved your 2 for 1 comment! I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving.
Tracy, could I contact the business that sells the pretty blankets?
Also, when serving the cutcuerein board are tooth picks used in place of silver ware?
Also, what are the small dishes holding?
Tell me about the printing on the wall. Looks like a quote.
Thanks
Hi Nan. The shop does have a website. http://www.gorsuch.com. Aren’t those blankets beautiful!
I used toothpicks for the charcuterie boards. The small dishes had olives and some marinated artichoke hearts.
The print on the wall is actually a chalkboard and I talked about it in the previous Tuesdays With Tracy. If you scroll up a bit you can open it to get the details.
Thanks for following along with Kelly and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Your pictures of Vail and Aspen are awesome. I felt like I was there. Colorado is beautiful all year round but especially in the fall. Thanks for sharing. Your soup recipe sounds delicious and I can’t wait to try it and look so easy to make.
Oh thanks Pam! I bet you would love Colorado. And enjoy that soup too. Thanks for commenting and following The Tattered Pew!
Oh yum! I can’t wait to try this recipe. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Rachel! I hope you enjoy it like we do. Happy Thanksgiving!
Tracy, I so enjoyed reading your post. It’s so fun that you are sharing now on the blog too. I don’t know if you remember, but we met a few years ago when Kelly and I went after-Christmas shopping while we were visiting family in Colorado.
Thank you for sharing your soup recipe. It is COLD here in Nebraska, and this recipe would be great for a quick weeknight meal. I can’t wait to try it!
Hi Jen, thanks so much for your kind comments. I do remember that Chilly Dec 26th morning when we met while doing some after Christmas shopping! I follow you on IG and of course Kelly keeps me up on your friendship. That soup is such a great easy week night meal, I hope you enjoy it!
Always love your thoughts & ideas. You have great taste and a gift for turning the ordinary into something beautiful ❤️
The pictures are gorgeous, Aspen is amazing & I can always use another soup recipe, it’s brrrr here too.
Blessings, Trina
Hi Trina, thanks so much for your sweet comments. That soup is one of my go to’s on cold days, I hope you enjoy it too! Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️
I too love Tuesdays with Tracy—2 for 1 like someone else said! I loved the fall Colorado photos! I want to go somewhere cold so bad; it’s a little brisk today here in San Diego at 65 degrees and we’re barely seeing a little fall color but most doesn’t show up til December! Thanks for all your sharing. I’m wondering what the aesthetician said about using a serum. I always used to use a serum but changed to L’Oreal Revitalift cream cause it has both hyaluronic acid plus retinol in it. What do you think an aesthetician would recommend?
Hi Carol thanks for your kind comments, I’m so glad you’re enjoying Tuesdays with Tracy. I will definitely follow up with our esthetician on that serum subject and report on it. I love to receive product suggestions and I will check out the L’Oréal Revitalift cream. Happy Thanksgiving!
What a damn good post
Aussie Jo your comment is so appreciated! Thank you 😄
