A Red, White and Touches of Blue Christmas
This year I am linking up and participating in Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday Housewalk Linky party 2019!Woo hoo it’s December, my absolute favorite month, and today on the blog it’s Christmas Home Tour day! I look forward to this post all year long! Today I am sharing part 1 of our 2019 Christmas Home Tour. This year it’s all about some red, white and touches of blue Christmas decor. Are you ready? Because I sure am!

But first…
I am joining a week long group of 50 bloggers For the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Home Tour Series hosted by my friend Krista from The Happy Housie. Today there are 10 of us sharing and you can find those links at the end of my post. If you are coming over from April at House by Hoff and her beautiful Christmas home tour, welcome!
Red, White & Touches of Blue for Christmas
I am so glad you have stopped by today. Actually, I’m pretty darn giddy you are here! 🙂 If you can’t already tell Christmas is my absolute favorite! I love the lights, having my birthday 3 days before Christmas, decorating, being with family, giving gifts and most importantly celebrating Jesus and His birthday! The best!
Hopefully my enthusiasm and love for this special time of year is reflected in my style and decorating. It truly brings me so much joy!
Before we get started with all the fun pictures of our home I want to warn you that I took a lot of pictures! (remember I’m so excited) I didn’t use them all but narrowing them down was SO hard for me! So this post, unlike my others, is very picture heavy so you may want to grab a warm beverage and find a comfy spot to relax in while you take a peek! I will try not to talk too much. 🙂
Come on in! Our entryway is the first thing you see (besides our porch) when you come to our home. My goal is to make this an inviting area that makes you feel at home and want to come in! It’s one of my favorite spots mostly because or our tiled doormat makeover and my darling little pew.
Just through the entry is our dining room.
This year’s decor was not only focused on red, white and touches of blue, but on keeping things simple. I took the less is more approach and I am loving how uncluttered it feels!
TIP: Simply placing ornaments in a bowl is a great way to stay with a color scheme and an inexpensive and easy way to decorate. I highly recommend it!
As you walk through our dining room you see my favorite boxwood green dresser! She is basically a part of the family now and loves being in my pictures. Our sweet wheaten terrier pup Kona loves being in my pictures too!
Oh and look, another fabulous bowl of ornaments.
I found this blue and white bowl at Home Goods and instantly loved it! See how it’s such an easy way for me to add red, white and touches of blue to this part of our home?
Our Christmas Kitchen
Next let’s venture into a bit of our kitchen. This mug rack corner is dedicated to Santa and hot cocoa! My kids love this area and they especially love Mema’s Hot Chocolate Recipe. Each of them have one of the darling Santa mugs you see on display. I found them at World Market a couple of years ago and they are still a favorite.
For friends and hostess gifts this year I made these jars full of my mom’s hot chocolate and added my darling gift tags. You can read all about how to make your own here!
Did you see my new counter stools? These have been on my radar for awhile so when they went on sale last month I snagged them up. The little wreaths look like they were made for them and are so simple yet bring me so much joy! It’s the little things, right?
Our kitchen table is where we keep our “Advent Wreath” and where I chose to hang the cedar garland my sister found for me at Costco! It was a smoking deal and adds so much beauty.
And finally let’s peek in at the Christmas tree. I saved the best for last!
Red and White on The Christmas Tree
This is the view from our kitchen counter. Honestly sometimes I just stand here and stare at the tree. I know, I’m a total dork but it always makes me pause and remember to slow down and enjoy this time of year.
Our tree is faux and we have had it for several years. It’s from Balsam Hill ( I snagged it on a major after Christmas sale) and I can’t rave enough about the quality. Sometimes I miss the smell of a real tree so I just light my Wood Wick Balsam Fir candle and call it good.
We have 18 foot ceilings so this 10 foot tree is perfect. Plus, you may notice that I placed her in our old tree crate for even more height. My mom and I decorated her together and we had so much fun! She has the golden touch when it comes to decorating Christmas trees!
The plaid ribbon I added this year was another fabulous Home Goods find and the red and white ornaments and the ribbon on the packages are all from Hobby Lobby! My trick for finding fun ribbon is to look in the “non-Christmas ribbon” section. It never fails and I always find more of a variety.
Aren’t those Christmas tree gift tags just so much fun? You can snag them in my printables library if you are a subscriber and find the password at the bottom of every email I send. If you aren’t already subscribed you can CLICK HERE to gain access to my free printables!
Do you see them? Those small pops of blue. They are simple yet make a statement.
And since this special time of year is all about Jesus in our home I love to keep our nativity set and kid friendly books about Him and the Christmas story accessible for tiny hands.

Thank You For Stopping By!
I am so happy you had time to visit my red, white and touches of blue Christmas tour today. As you venture below to the other bloggers’ homes I hope you will remember that wonderfully decorated homes are fun to have and get inspiration from but really it’s not the most important thing.
May the beautiful light of every Christmas season remind us of Him who is the source of all the light.
