Blue and Green Summer Decorating Ideas

Sweet summer time is finally here in Colorado and today I am excited to share some blue and green summer decorating ideas! I’m a kindergarten teacher and I usually take a week or so to decompress from the school year and then I start my summer decorating. Funny as it may sound decorating is therapeutic for me and something I look forward to at the end of the school year. This year I was once again drawn to blues and greens with an occasional pop of yellow. And guess what…I found some great pieces at one of my favorite shops; Rod Works!
Today I am thankful to be a part part of the Seasonal Simplicity Summer Series, hosted by Krista from The Happy Housie. All week long a fabulous group of 40 bloggers have been sharing their summer home tours. You can find them all at the bottom of my post. If you are coming from Tatertots and Jello, welcome! I just love Jen’s use of color on her porch!
Blue and Green Summer Decorating Ideas
Welcome to our family room. We do a lot of living here and we love this space. And as you can see below, our sweet Wheaten Terrier pup Kona loves it too. This summer I was inspired by this huge gorgeous green seeds sign I discovered at Rod Works. Isn’t it fabulous? Once I saw it I knew instantly that it needed to replace my DIY book garland and go between my two favorite old shutters. From there I got to work…decorating. 😉
If you know me you know I LOVE to mix the old with the new in every room of our house. Here in the family room we adore our new Pottery Barn sofa as well as the two beautiful french style chairs I found at a local consignment shop. The blue pillows with the fabulous tassels are from Rod Works as well as the basket full of greenery. (I’m telling you, you must visit this incredible store or shop with them on line!) I’m a girl who can never resist a wonderful shopping spot or decorating with a good basket!
Ideas for a Summer Vignette
The wonderful white dresser below was a Facebook Marketplace find that I scored for $40 dollars and painted myself. It is so much fun to decorate and this summer vignette was a fun one to create! I started with the tulip crate, yellow tulips and blue and white Turkish towel all from Rod Works. Next, I added this darling little white stool I found just the other day while my sister and I were out scouring the flea markets. My tip is to grab items that have the colors you are looking for and play around with them until you are happy.
If you are needing some fun items to decorate with you can find Rod Works Colorado over on Instagram and find the shopping link in their bio!
Blue and Green Summer Quilts
I also have a weakness for pretty quilts. I was somehow able to manage adding three different quilts into our family room. Each of the quilts have some blue and green in them and even some yellow! The basket below is above our fireplace and the other quilt is draped on our sofa.
The third quilt is blue and white and sitting on top of my FAVORITE boxwood green dresser. Isn’t this old metal canister with flowers just a show stopper? I love big pieces that tell a story and draw your eye in. I found this at Rod Works as well. You can see in the picture below a full view of our entire family room. Our kitchen is on the opposite side.
Here is a peek back into our kitchen. I will be sharing more of it here on the blog in a couple of weeks. If you want to see it and hang out with me some more you can subscribe HERE! Also let me know if you have any questions about our family room or items. I love connecting with my readers!
