How To Make A Dried Floral Wreath

A few weeks ago I walked into Hobby Lobby looking for some time alone and some Fall inspiration. Can you relate? I steered clear of all of the traditional Fall decor and found myself in the dried floral isle which happened to be 40% off. I was drawn to a gorgeous sage green bundle and snagged it up having no clue what I would do with it. At 40% off it ended up being around $4 and such a great bargain that I couldn’t resist!

For some reason this year I haven’t really been inspired in terms of Fall decor, and as a blogger I usually like to get my Fall decor done early to hopefully inspire others and simplify my life a bit. But with teaching virtually and well, life, it has been a bit slower.

And so I have waited to start my Fall decor.

And guess what?

It’s been lovely…just soaking up these last bits of summer and warm weather. The dried flowers sat in the garage for over a week and I waited for inspiration to hit. And sure enough …it did!

Wreath Inspiration

Inspiration hit me one afternoon when I went into our basement storage room and saw the wheat wreath I had gotten from JoAnn several years ago. It was beautiful but asking for a little extra love, and in that instant I knew that adding my dried flowers would be just what she needed.

Here is her before…gorgeous, but needing a new look for Fall.

My fall wheat wreath got a bit of some extra love with some lovely dried florals from Hobby Lobby.

Supplies Needed For A Dried Floral Wreath

Wreath (I used a wheat wreath like this one)

Scissors

Dried Flowers (Find great dried flowers here if you can’t get to Hobby Lobby))

Wreath Hanger or Fishing Line (My antler wreath hanger )

Dried flowers are perfect for Fall and fall wreaths!

Beginning the Process

First, I knew I wanted to add these dried flowers to my wheat wreath I just wasn’t sure what that would look like or how I would attach them. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow and enjoy the process. Inspiration took over and I was able to just start snipping and adding the dried flowers in a circular direction to go along with the existing pattern of the wreath.

A DIY fall wreath that won't break the bank.

Next, I would cut some of the stems, tuck, step back, adjust and repeat this over and over again until I was happy. It did get a bit messy…I will warn you. Dried flowers are messy in general. But nothing a little hand held vac couldn’t pick up!

It was a simple yet rewarding little DIY. And the best part was I just kept thinking, gosh this barely cost me anything! Not going to lie I was a bit proud of myself. 🙂

Dried Floral Wreath Perfect For Fall

This dried floral wheat wreath turned out even better than I had hoped for. It’s simplicity and beauty offer a neutral and natural nod to Fall that I hope to carry throughout my home this season.

A gorgeous dired floral DIY wreath for a natural and neutral look for Fall!

Hopefully I have inspired you to try your hand at updating an old wreath with some dried flowers! A fun, inexpensive and creative way to transition into Fall.
