Hi Friends!
For those of you who may be new to Kelly’s blog, I am Tracy, her mom, and I visit The Tattered Pew/Lazy Girls Garden Club once a month. I love helping Kelly with projects and planning but she does all the work.

HOW TO REFRESH YOUR SPRING HOME IN FIVE EASY STEPS.
STEP 1 – Rotate Fresh Pillows & Throws
The first thing I do as a seasonal change, is refresh my pillows and throws. I’m currently enjoying blues, pinks, and yellow. I usually buy pillow covers so I can change them out and keep the inserts. But occasionally I find pillows at Homegoods and they already have the inserts in them.
Below is my tattered pew with a couple of pillows and a kantha throw from www.UCountcampaign.org
I have a variety of handmade large and small kantha throws. The two featured above and below are large ones but I also use the small ones on tables. All of the U Count products are made by survivors of human trafficking. It is an all volunteer organization and 100% of the profits go back to the survivors.
Step 2 Refresh The Mantle
My mantle is a hard one to decorate because it is about twelve feet long. It drives me crazy, ha! Currently I just have layers of a variety of items; books, stacks of framed art, candle sticks, and a small cabinet. For Spring I added some blue & white pottery, faux flowers in a bowl, and a piece of art.
Step 3, Refresh the Coffee Table
I usually have a tray of some type on the coffee table. Currently on the tray I have faux tulips, books, a vintage flower frog, and a candle.
I was in Walmart the other day and fell in love with the yellow candle by Better Homes and Gardens. It has a wonderful grapefruit scent.
I love that you can peel off the tags on their candles.
I love the Georgianna Lane books. She has published some incredibly beautiful books on cities and flowers.
Step 4, Refresh the Dining Room Table
In February we were visiting good friends who were staying in Sedona and we had fun visiting a thrift shop. Most of you know how I love to go to flea markets and thrift shops. I already had found the small green Bordallo Pinneiro plates below at a local flea market, so when I saw the green soup tureen I snatched it up for $12. So I set the dining room table with these items on top of an old vintage grain sack.
Step 5, Start a New Home Project
“Spring is the time of plans & projects.”
Leo Tolstoy
I’ve been wanting to change out the pendants over our kitchen island for years. Well, my daughter, Lindsey, changed hers and asked if I wanted her lantern style ones. I currently have them sitting in the garage and plan to refresh them with paint and possibly use them over our island. Below is what has been there for 16 years, as well as the old lanterns in the garage.
Well I can’t leave you with a photo of dirty lanterns in my garage, ha!
“The deep roots never doubt spring will come.”
Marty Rubin
I’m looking forward to the part of spring that bursts out with green after the brown of winter. In winter I hunker down and the garden goes dormant in sleep. Our roots must grow deep to make it through seasons of winter. For plants their roots still need water in winter, just as I need to nourish my soul and faith during winter type seasons.
Spring blessings to you my friend!
