DIY Milk Painted Shutters

Kelly of The Tattered Pew

Milk Paint is magic and so easy to work with! Using milk paint from Miss Mustard Seed in the color Bergère we were able to easily transform these old shutters!

1

Choose Your Paint Color: Before choosing your color of paint decide on the brand you will use. We chose milk paint because it is easy to work with and requires little prep.

Prep your space! We painted out shutters inside and simply used plastic drop cloths to protect our space.

2

Clean your Shutters.  We did not sand our old chippy shutters but we did wipe them down so they were clean and would accept the paint.

3

Decide if you want to paint just one side or both sides of your shutters. I painted one side because I loved both colors and love to switch things up option.

Milk paint is awesome because it leaves a chippy vintage look when it dries. It can be applied thin or thick depending on your preference.

Vintage painted shutters add instant character to any space. You can get them painted in one day and have new decor to style the next.
